What age?

Hi
Whats is the right age to give a child Indian head massage/Massage. I am aware they have to have a guardian/parent with them A client of mine would like me to do a Indian head on her 2 daughters who are 13 and 15. AlthoughI do Swedish massage on my sons legswhose 7yrs he suffers from growing pains and massage really helps him.

Sorry, I should have replied to this before. My Reiki Master does Indian Head Massage on her 7 yr old son, so as long as you are gentle I can't see there being a problem. The only problem with teenagers is that you may stir up their hormones and they could be even more of a nightmare to live with for your friend LOL!

As has been said IHM can be done at any age - Its traditionally done from birth! But if your treating as clients then I would go through the usual consultation form and ask parent(s) to sign also stating the agree with treatment going ahead and I would also insist that they be present at all times during treatment with the kids being under 16 years! that way you are covering both yourself and the kids. (and make sure parent(s) sign form to say they are present!


I know you said they are a friends children, but I would still make sure consultation forms are filled in - even when first treating friends I fill in and go thru consultation froms. You never know!!
And IHM may actually calm the hormones down, and relax the kids out! My kids used to love it and would often plonk themselves in front of me when I was watching TV and demand I massage their heads before they went to bed! lol and it did calm them down before bed and relax them! (my kids are 7, 15 and 17!)
