Remember that "exotic" species can also be "invasive". Species can be introduced naturally (such as plant seeds blowing in the wind or animals moving away from an area because of some type of stress like predation or climate change) or artificially (by people). Many plants have been brought to the states for aesthetic purposes, packaging purposes, remembering home, growing foods etc. Sometimes it is accidental, like something getting stuck on the bottom of a ship and going across the sea.
