What are the pros and cons of being a massage therapist?

Any message therapist out there? Or do you know one personally? I would just like to know the pros and cons of being one, they are in demand in my area and I just might go to school to become one. Oh my sisters and relatives would just love me if I did!

Pros - happy customers, peaceful working environment, some people really love it

Cons - creepy men who want happy endings ALL THE TIME, everyone thinks you a ho, boring and repetitive work, most people end up not liking it after a couple of years, physical injury

After a day of work you won't have the time, strength or desire to massage your relatives. You'll be exhausted.

How do you know massage really demanded in your area? If the schools tell you this, automatically consider it a lie. They'll do and say anything to get your money. If chains like Massage Envy do most of the hiring in your area, forget it. They pay $15 an hour and work you like a dog.

To make any kind of money at all you'll have to start your own business.

cons: work, or lack of work depending ... the usual, putting up with annoying bosses and frustrations assoc with most other work fields. Student loan debt ... though certainly less than many other fields require.

pros. Poss to earn a living wage ( or even do well .. depending on the type of person you are and skill level etc.) If you enjoy doing it, then its always a plus to choose a work field you actually enjoy.
