What are the training routes into IHM?

Hiya

As part of my stress management diploma, I have to explore a 'bolt on' therapy that intesrests me, and part of the assignment includes detailing the various training routes into the said therapy.

I am really interested in IHM but know little about the various courses on offer. Is anyone able to summarise the routes in as I can only find hard to follow texts on the ITEC site etc. I just need an overview of all the course types on offer really.

Well, there are day seminars on IHM, or you can do a VTCT diploma at Level 3 NVQ for one day a week for a year. Try googling VTCT and see what comes up.

I did a distance learning course with The Kevala Centre over the course of about a year. Very detailed, very thorough, full of A&P and learnt far more than on a day seminar.

I did a year course through a local college. First 6 weeks was spent on Health & safety, A & P (even though you couldn't do the course if you hadn't done the year A & P before), safe working practise, etc. After that we had a few weeks working on each other in the class after a demo from the teacher, and then we started on working on clients. We had to do 6 people for a total of 10 treatments in order to get feedback etc.

This was part of an HND (Not sure if this only applies to Scotland!) in Holistic Therapies.

As stated above, you'd probably be better off getting your info from a search on the www - be prepared for an overload!

I will keep looking on tinternet! Its all so messy cos there are so many courses and its all difficult to follow! I have got loads of info on the ITEC course but not the VTCT. I can summarise about distance learning and HND's I guess.
