What are Your TYPICAL Hourly Rates?

I would like to know what your rates are (if you are in private practice or what you get paid if you work elsewhere) and where you practice (location, state, country, in office, outcall, out of your home etc.) and if you have a "range" or sliding scale.

i charge roughly $70/hour. i live in a metro city in the southeast, i own an establishment with 3 other therapists including myself. (that being said, i do not make $70/hour.) i do make exceptions for about four clients and charge them on a scale.

Well, since the poll didn't work out as I had hoped, thanks to those of you posting and addressing the poll options!

I live and practice in San Diego, California.

I charge $80-$100 in my office and outcall fees start at $25 for local areas. Honestly, I am really working to minimize my outcalls, unless it's a spa party or multiple booking (as in the case of one family I work on who own a vacation home here and they book 5 hours at a time, 6 or 7 if they have friends in town!).

I am usually offered a tip by those who come in on gift certificates or as a referral.

I have a few people that I occasionally see and charge less than my usual rates (friends, students, the elderly or disabled on fixed incomes).

I gift an extra 30 minutes at their next massage to any current client who refers me 3 clients who book a massage with me or buys 3 gift certificates.

This is what I'm doing now, but I remain flexible and open, which is my intent in starting this thread, to learn about what the rest of you all out there.

I am in private practice in a small town in Michigan - about 80,000 people.

I charge $75 for my specialties and only $55 for swedish - but I do very little swedish these days. 90% of my clients tip. I don't have a sliding scale, but I do have about 3 clients who have followed me to the ends of the earth that I have never raised my rates on.

I am in the upper midwest and I have average rates for where I am located. The range LMTs charge around here are anywhere from 50-60 for an hour. I charge $55 for an hour. I have my own business so I get to keep my tips too. I have packages which reduce the hourly rate some. The lowest I will go as far as packages or specials is 40 for an hour, and there is only one package I offer that takes me that low, but that's 12 prepaid massages!

I do not discount - I used to on occasion and every single time except ONCE in eight year it has turned around to bite me in the buttock.

So no more discounts.

I charge $40 for a basic hour massage but am in a very rural area where the cost of living is low and the average annual income is low. It's a good fee for where I am. It's actually $15 more than the unlicensed girl in town. *wry grin*

My suggestions on the poll would be to have 2 different polls since people are limited to only being able to vote once

You could have one poll on the dollar amount and then a different on referring to tips and/or discounts.
