What category for Facebook Business page?

So, we're finally convinced that for our area, having a Facebook page for our business would be a good idea.

So, I went to Facebook to sign up, after reading the many helpful (and some not-so-helpful) discussions here on MassagePlanetL.

What I haven't figured out yet is, what category to use? For a "Local Business", they do not list "CAM" or a similar option. It is basically either "Health and Beauty" (which sounds like a department in a grocery store to me), or "Medical Services". We do pain management and prenatal massage, but I'm still not sure that qualifies as "medical services". What did y'all who have FB business pages choose, and if you wanna go farther, why? (and if you have a FB page you haven't posted here, would you mind PM'ing it to me so I can see how you set it up? I know some folks are more private than others, and I respect that.)

I listed mine under health & beauty.

I know it is not as "professional" as I would like the category to sound, but it brings with it a few people who spend discretionary income and lends to whatever direction you want to go in. Just my thoughts.

Thanks, Pueppi! It looks fabulous, and I *love* that you take the time to tell your visitors about other businesses you like as well. I just started a "business spotlight of the month" section for our e-newsletter, to try to help some of my small business owner friends get to know each other. How much time to you spend daily/otherwise on your Facebook page?

I'd love to see others' FB pages as well, if you don't mind. And web sites. We're about to *completely* revamp our web site (again); we have a client who is an IT guy who has offered to teach me WordPress stuff so I can deal with my own site and get it looking how *I* want it. He's coming TODAY at 9:30!

It doesn't matter what you are listed under for services. People aren't searching FB for a massage therapist, they will use a search engine to look for websites. People will see you on their friend's walls and that's how you can garner new business, I've already gotten several new clients because of that. It's a good idea to post something everyday for maximum exposure, but only one thing. Some therapists post three or more posts at once and that gets a little redundant when you see all their posts on your wall. In order to get business from your page, you want your posts to be seen on the walls of people who "like" you and that's how you get new "likes" and clientele. I also send out a little "thank you" to each person who "like" my page.

I'm also very careful to make my business page client centered. After looking at a lot of other therapists' business pages, I realized most of them are geared toward other massage therapists. I don't know if they meant it that way or not, but it seems it'll be easier attracting new clients if you are gearing your page to clients and not other therapists. In that vein, I post articles that relate specifically to massage-- and not things that are outside my scope, such as nutritional supplement information, medical information or other.

When you get your page together, be sure and send out notices to all your friends on FB so they can "like" you. I'm having a lot of fun with my business page!

When I purchased it, it was $15, not sure of the price now. It was very extensive and he gives a lot of great marketing information on how to get folks to become "likes" and create clientele. I don't use all of his suggestions, but I really learned a lot about using security settings and friends lists on my regular FB page. Now on my personal page, I have multiple lists and use security settings so only certain lists see certain posts and such, very informative (unless you already know that part!). But, again, the marketing advice he gives is extensive. I thought it was worth it for $15.

I have a FB page and I listed it under the "health and beauty" cat.
I listed it this way because we are also a barbershop, and I like doing spa services.
However~ I don't believe it really makes that much of a difference~ As other's have stated, its mostly the presence and interaction you get to have with your clients on a daily (if you so choose) basis. It's fun to see what they are up to, I have clients book through FB with me (eventhough I have an online booking system t102 )
It also gives you an outlet to advertise openings in your day, or upcoming vacations without having to do an email thing.

SO far it's been helpful for me.
