Boffo,

go to the search tool and look up the file from there. once you find it, remove it (i.e. delete), empty trash and then go to the WMP and clear history...that way it will not "pop-up on any other users.

Beyond that I would recomend a Disk Cleaning utility like McAfee.

If the guy has never used this before he'll be f'd big time with no easy way back. Much better just to delete the file as above.

If you cant find the file by search. Go to download another file and it will tell you where it is going to save it. You can then go to this directory and search for the file there. Good Luck

You might also want to run a defrag on your hard drive, even if it says you don't need to. It may cause your system to overwrite any old unwanted files.

That's some desperate measures for just deleting a movie clip from your HD and pointless since it won't undo the saving of downloaded files, saved documents, etc..

Search Advice was great and so was the advice given by CDOG.
Just Search "for files or folders named" sample.asf and choose to "Look In" Drive C or My Computer. If you can't figure it out then sell the PC
