What do you clean the feet with?

I am training at the moment and want to start practicing on family and friends a bit more. In college we use surgical spirit orcologneto clean the feet before a treatment but I don't like the smell of surgical spirit. My friend said her reflexologist uses baby wipes but I don't like the smell on those either!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to whatI could try? I don't like strong smellsat all. Thanks.

I use a foot cleansing spray with peppermint essential oil in it, it refreshes and deodorises and I think it smells quite nice. My clients like it. Your suppliers should have a selection.

I like boots cucumber wipes and they're always on 3 for 2 in boots! I find them handy because I can wipe the clients feet at the beginning so they're all nice and clean and fresh. then, if I want to do some reiki at the end of the session they are very handy to give my hands a quick quipe if covered in moisturiser. plus they niff nice!

You can get medicated wipes that have no smell from Superdrug, I beleive.

We trained using witch hazel, so that's what I always use now.

I use baby wipes and I think you can get them perfume free.

A thought with the surgical spirit - I'm surprised you're trained to use that as isn't it used to toughen the skin on the feet (for walkers, etc)?

We also use SS at college. It is used to toughen skin to prevent blisters, but this will only happen over time - it takes around 1-2 weeks of daily application to have enough effect. I suspect the action of the oil on the feet during massage would counteract any effect of the few minutes the SS is on, we are alos told to 'dab' the feet with a towel to dry them quickly, rather than permitting the SS to evaporate.

I use baby wipes too, don't mind the smell myself though, you might find one brand more pleasing than the others..

I hardly ever use anything, just take them as they come so to speak. I occasionally use an unscented wipe if the feet are particularly dirty or smelly!![:'(]
