What do you refer to your business as?

I have two treatment rooms, one employee, a small waiting area, and a private bathroom.
Nothing fancy, carpeting, hot stones and towels with every session, and we only do massage,
no waxing, nails, skin care or hair.

I don't feel I qualify as a 'spa,' I also feel that word is over used. I also don't consider my self a
clinic, it just feels to medical for me. I have referred to it as 'the office' and 'the center,'
but those just don't sound right to me either really. I just use them because they are the
most neutral.

What do you refer to your business as? Please give me some fresh ideas!!

Yep, we too use "office", "practice" and in letters or formal items... "facility".

I like studio. Sounds arty. I also like the idea of using boutique, haven, or sanctuary.

However, I typically refer to my business as my "practice" & don't use "office". For my private practice I usually tell people I have a room in my home dedicated to my massage practice. Boring, I know. Where I am an IC, I refer to it as the "clinic", that is what they call it; it is the student clinic.

Massage Practice, Therapeutic Massage Practice, Bodywork Practice, etc - because I am gonna keep practicing so that I can improve my skills.....

Massage is an art that requires practice for improvement - that's the best description I ever learned in school.

I usually refer to it as a Wellness Center because while we offer a lot of spa like services, we are not a posh spa, and we are more focused on the healing aspects.

I am really digging studio. A wellness studio. hmmmm. Liking it!

I don't think I'd refer to my practice as a "studio". It sounds artsy, but I don't think it works as well as with dance, photography, or even yoga. When used in conjunction with massage, it sounds about on par with parlor, which has shady connotations.

This original post is over 2 years old.

So I plan on expanding in 6 months. I will have a bath tub hot tub, a far infrared sauna, a steam shower, and a floatation tank.

Plus, I will be the only massage therapist. My husband will be joining me to be my office manager and helper.

What should I call my business then? How does "center" sound?

HHmm,,, well,, I just ordered a new sign and am calling my new "space" as a Therapeutic Massage Studio. I am hoping that my keeping Therapeutic in the title that is doesn't have Parlor like connotations!! I like Studio.. I also like Center.. but since I only have one large room that I intend to split into an office area and treatment area I kind of feel like Center is a bit misleading. I swear, deciding the name or title is harder than taking the anatomy exams!!
