What do you sit on???

Hey everyone,

I've just splashed out on a padded Lafuma recliner and I'm hoping my future case studies will be comafortable and relaxed.

HOWEVER, I'd also like to make sure I'm comfortable too!!! Especially as I already seem to have a problem finding a good position whilst trying to learn the sequence. My posture is slacking, even though I keep putting it in check, and I'm feeling the strain. []

Can anyone recommend a really comfy chair to use when giving treatment. It would be great to find one with adjustable height too!!

Also, any tips on managing posture??

On our course, we were recommended a company called Beautelle for reflexology equipment, they have a few different therapist stools, including a saddle-shaped one and height adjustable ones. There are many different companies who supply similar things. I would probably test out a few first to find which suits you the most. Maybe contact a couple of local reflexologists and see if they can help you. I'd be interested to know how you get on as I'll be looking to purchase one in a few months myself.

lafuma also do a folding camping stool which is exactly the right height. no support for the back, but then when you do your exam, you'll be doing it on couches/ chairs anyway?

I've got a height adjustable wheelie chair, as I move around quite a bit during the treatment to save my back. I think it was from Beautelle. One hazard of these is that you may get one that's a bit creaky or has squeaky wheels, but they do do a pretty good job. Prior to having that oneI used a cheap office wheelie chair from Argos and though bulky, I must say it did an excellent job.

I bought a lafuma stool when I got the chair. That works well and I find it's the right hight. Also because I'm mobile it folds up and fits in the same bag as the chair - one less thing to carry.

forgot to say in previous post. I also bought, at the same time, a cover for the chair and a D shapped cushion. The cushion goes under the clients ankles and lifts them a little which also makes it easier to work on the feet.

Captain oats - where did you buy the D-shaped cushion? Is is also made by LaFuma?

For the 'D' bolster go to Oxford Therapy Supplies not sure of website address (Oxford School of Reflexology website should get you there). The cushionreally support the ankle and provides good access for therapist and comfort for client. It is fleecy and comes with a seperate cover and can be washed at40!

I agree about the D shaped bolster - it is perfect!
