What % is fair?
I am leaning towards the preference of % at this point within the context of my involvement with a chiropractor's office. At present I pay rent. It simply is not an equitable and fair distribution of my time, labor and services. This month I barely made rent...and I did incur time, traveling, being available for appts. and massage. Some of the clients used 5 month old gift certificates from Mother's Day and some of my regulars were out of town...a few were a no-show. Time and labor did not meet financial expectations..and honestly...I hate to even be stressed over finances within the context and meaning of this work...but hey..there it is sometimes.. like it or not.I am going to call a meeting with the chiro and re-address the terms. I am now thinking 80% for me will work and compensate equitably for my time and efforts. The 20% for the chiro is a fair deal and will offer them more than just rent should my client appts go over a certain level per month (though truly - that is NOT, nor do I wish it to BE my focus..it will simply free me up to concentrate more on the work at hand and be justly compensated for the time and labor given within the "structure" of that environment.) It will also give them more motivation to refer more clients. But with the rent situation...even though I am independent..(which also has it's plus' and minus,) They really are not too invested in the clients I see...as they already have my rent. Now if their perceneforum.xxxe would increase due to more referrals, then it offers the opportunity to be a win-win situation. If they disagree w/ the new terms...I'm out. I do not like having to worry if I make rent or not...and I'm just not in that kind of flow yet to afford the luxory of NOT worrying about it at this time. This is only one of several different ventures which pertains to considering a %..and in this context seems appropriate. Each must consider what works best for their own individual situation and what they are willing to negotiate on behalf of their own interests. I am learning I need not "settle" for less than I think I am worth. There are just too much opportunities out there to develope to stay in ANY situation that does not value one's time, talents, and ability to work within a standard that values quality practices both given and recieved.
