what is it like to work at a resort?

I am hoping to work at a destination resort in a year or so. I have some questions for someone with experience doing this...

1. what is it like in general to work at a resort? hours, pay, etc...
2. what is housing like? do they typically provide it or do you just find a place nearby to live?
3. what did you think of the experience?
4. Are there any resorts in the USA that you would recommend?

I did a search to see if there were any older threads that might answer your questions. The opinions in the following threads pretty much only answer your first and third questions, but you may find some good things to think about.

Do you realize that if you leave NYS, you will have to get re-licensed in whatever state you move to?

It is not the resorts that care about national certification, but in some states it is required to get licensed.

Such is the case here in North Carolina, which is home to a 5-star Spa at Pinehurst Resort's Hotel, as well as Oak Grove in Asheville.
