What is the best way to introduce 2 male cats?

My first cat is 8yrs. & NEVER goes outside, i've had him since he was 6 weeks, he's neutered....about 2 weeks ago we had another male cat show up outside...we've kept him fed & are going to take him to the vet, I am wanting to also make him a house cat (such a sweet personality =) I have been letting them "visit" while keeping a glass door between them...there's been a little hissing, but only at first, now my first cat will paw the glass...what does this mean? Can it work out? And what problems should I look out for? Any advice will be appreciated...thanks!

take a rag and rub it on the new cat's cheeks, then put it in the room with your older cat, if it doesnt react badly to it thats a good sign, give it a toy to play with that also has the newer cat's scent on it. to give them their first meeting use a distraction, put some tuna on two plates and keep the cats seperate, but close enough to sense eachother. if they go for the food instead of eachother that means they dont really care. do this a few times, then after a couple weeks take away the tuna and let them meet without it.

Play date. Get a flashlight and play its beam across the floor slow-to-fast. Don't let the cats know you're doing it. They like to chase, and they'll get into each other's airspace. They'll associate each other with fun. Worth a shot. End it up with a meal, get them used to each other more. Sleepover. Next day one of them goes outside for a bit. Who misses who?

With any cats that you introduce to each other, whether they are the same or opposite sex, they will not like each other at first. It's a known fact. To get them to like each other, they just have to be around each other and only time will tell if they are going to take to one-another. However, I found out that with Persian cats, they are more curious about other cats than other breeds that I've had and it doesn't seem like they will hiss at one-another, but instead follow each other around and annoy each other.
