What is the best way to introduce a new cat into the household?

My new cat and my old cat keep growling hissing and trying to attack eachother. Is there a better way to introduce the two so they wont fight?

my aunt's cats were like that their entire life...usually when they crossed paths they would hiss and everything at each other. but as they got older they tended just to avoid each other as much as possible, and everything was okay. but just give it time because they will probably just get used to each other. it really depends on the cats... just give it some time.

i baby sit cats and i own 2 cats but all i do is let the cats do what ever they want they may not get along with each other at first but they do adapt my cats are 1 year old and i have been babysitting a baby cat with lots of energy they did not warm up to each other for about a week but it all worked out after about 2 weeks if they are not getting along at first have the new cat sleep in the same room as u because you will stay up all night if you don't
