hi all i need some advice please, i was just sitting in a chair when i moved and heard a sound like bone rubbing together and then it felt like my back collapsed about 2 cms.
I have had heaps of back probs in the past L/4 L/5 fusion with cage disc replacement 22 mnths ago.
Went to the ER last week they couldnt explain what had happened they gave me endone , diazapam and pr indocid this did help slightly with the pain and knocked mr for a six.
I was sent home with instructions to see my dr .
this is what the letter stated:
_ distressed
_Back, bilateral muscle spasm, decreased rom
_ Lower limbs:slr to 10 degrees left, 30 degrees right
_Power2+?5 left hip rotation, otherwise normal throughout
_Reflexes including planters intact
Sacral pin ***** sensation definatly decreased.

Ms Mccartneys pain settled slightly with PR INDOCIDE , DIAZEPAM AND ENDONE.
impression .
Exacerbration chronic pain with objective neurological signs. (does this mean they think its in my head).
He goes on to say that theses signs warrent outpatient imaging in the form of MRI, CT and xrays.
Went to my gp the monday wasnt much more help told me to keep taking all the meds and wait and see what scans show .
These meds are knocking me around.
I had my ct scan this morning but i was wondering if anyone knew what the ER docs report means???

What they mean by neurological signs is that whilst your reflexes are okay, you do have some muscle weakness in your lower limbs, so there may be some compression of one or more of the nerve roots as they exit the spine.

A Symptom is subjective and something that the person experiences themselves.

A Sign is an objective finding and something that the clinician has found, usually as the result of a test. Strength in certain muscles in this case.

As to what happened, given your history, then I'd rather not guess and would hope that by now you've had some results.

Hi there,

Sounds like you have definately got pressur on a nerve in your spine. What were you doing leading up to the day it happened....anything that stands out in your mind that may be unusual. Did you have a fall or accident before this (even a few months before). I hope you have found relief so far. Ensure you look into complementary therapies that address musculoskeletal conditions such as yours may be. There are a lot of therapies that can help. It may also have something to do with your coccyx or sacrum.....a bowen therapist in your area should give you relief.
