What to do Christmas time

Not long an me and the wife will be flying to phuket and will be there for 4 weeks , so we are there for christmas and new years eve , Please dont think i am being stupid but what you lot get up to over these few days , ie day time and evening ???? We have been on about staying there for christmas but unsure what we will do at the moment , and we do have thai friends there too, any suggestions are welcome

Loads to do at Xmas time, Its very busy time of year.

Depends what you are into but for example Goldie is supposed to be doing a Boxing day party at Stereolab on the Beach in Surin.

if u stay at hotel on new year dont some make you pay for some special dinner even if you don't go to it?

One question about christmas. Do thaipeople do anything special at christmas time? I know they are not christian but do they give presents to eachother? Do they have any other dates that they have something like "christmas"?

Maybe I am stupid but I was just thinking about it.

Generalising, no they don't have a present giving ceremony at any annual celebration. Well not in the strictest terms of your question. They do, if they can afford, buy birthday presents, but for example my gf never got any presents until her 12th birthday.

They do give gifts at Thai new year or loy krathong, or when opening a new business or moving to a new house, but again only small things quite often home made.

Commercially they celebrate christmas, as its an earner, in fact we get 3 new years here, ours, Chinese and Thai.

Sorry, my fault will put up a thread later this week. We will be having a Christmas BM Lala dinner, along the lines of last year, had loads of BM's ask me and I've just been sorting the final price with Marcus and deciding on the pre-dinner venue. Also wanted to dig out last years thread to attach it, save me posting piccies again.

i think mainly the high end hotels do that, but most of the smaller hotels don't have function rooms, but it is well worth asking if there is a charge.

There are some Thai Christians especially near Karasin and Sakon Nakon, they celebrate Christmas

I know of 1 BM's GF who celebrates Christmas although she is budhist, wonder why 5555555
