I think the verdict should be guilty.
But guilty for negligent homicide, not 2nd degree murder.

I think the prosecution charged too aggressively and the evidence doesn't support a 2nd degree murder charge.

Either way, there are many more Chauvins out there in this world the police ranks.
Most of them aren't videotaped when they are killing someone.
So, they go free

I am watching the blacks celebrate and I keep thinking one thing:

No matter how many convictions you get, you 'all still have to face the reality that you folks aren't productive and will continue to be poor.

So, in the end, the looting will not stop.

I think the government should pass a law in the U.S. that prohibits looting at discount stores like Dollar Tree.
If the blacks are going to perpetually loot businesses, they should at least be forced to loot stores that sell items above the one dollar price point.

He should not have been found guilty of murder, but a lesser crime like involuntary manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death. I think the jury came back with the guilty verdict under pressure knowing that if they acquitted there would be riots in the streets. I do think that there are grounds for appeal seeing that the jury could have been prejudiced by the comments of both Maxine Waters and Joe Biden.

I don't think Chauvin should have sat on him for 9 minutes, including 3 minutes after Floyd stopped moving.

Your chances of being unarmed, shot and killed by the police are 1 in 6,000,000.
Your chances of being armed, shot and killed by the police are 1 in 320,000.

If you believe the statistics put out by the government, that is.

So, you have a 12 times greater chance of being hit by lightning than you do of being shot and killed by police if you don't have a weapon.
And you are only slightly more likely to be shot and killed by police as opposed to the lightning threat, even if you do have a weapon.

More whites than blacks are killed by the police even though blacks commit crimes at a much higher frequency than whites.
I thought more blacks were killed by the police, but apparently, if the statistics are accurate, that isn't the case.

I had a gun pointed at me in Ontario by local police, during a traffic stop.
I was never shot, but it wasn't an enjoyable experience.
Of course the Communists on the board don't believe that such an incident is possible.
Because those Communists have low self-esteem and don't want to admit reality if it doesn't make them smile.

That is a very silly post. Blacks are killed at a higher rate. Even the statistics you've posted --which I have also shared a few time--show that. Blacks account for 13% of the population, about 6.5% if you count only males and yet comprise 25% of the total figure for people shot and killed by police.

That is not the point. The question that should be asked is why police have to interact with black people at so much higher a rate. Or, why do black men account for 53% of people incarcerated for murder? Or why are the statistics across all other serious crimes comparable with black men being vastly over represented. If you want to make a case for "systemic racism" explaining those numbers, I will certainly consider it, but a more nuanced explanation seems more likely to me.

I always find the outrage about controversial police killings funny. Everyone gets worked up about them but no one cares about the hundreds of deaths that happen in cities like Chicago.

Thank god that scum bag Derek Chauvin got the guilty verdict on all 3 counts. Despite the evidence that led to his pending sentence, there is no doubt in my mind that part of the decision was influenced by BLM's brand of mob justice. Whatever. I'll take it. I just didn't want to see cities burning and small businesses looted by a bunch of uncivilized and uneducated hoodlums. These rats don't realize that when they burn down these establishments, they're hurting a lot of black people too. The very same black people they claim to be fighting for! Oh wait. Do black lives really matter or only certain black lives? Because nobody seems to care about Officer David Dorn who was killed at the height of last year's unrest or the countless lives lost in Shitcago on a daily basis. So I guess it's only black criminals who die at the hands of white cops who truly matter. Okay. Got it.

Regardless of how it was achieved, I'm thankful for the guilty verdict for the sake of some U.S. cities because I sure as hell don't give a fuck about justice for a two-bit thug like George Floyd. Derek Chauvin was a crooked cop who was written up 19 times prior to this incident and had a reputation for roughing people up so he had it coming. Floyd on the other hand, held a gun to a pregnant woman's stomach back in 2007 and that's just one of the many transgressions committed by this creep throughout his miserable life. He's no better. Cops killing unarmed black men is not an epidemic in the U.S. It only seems that way because these are the stories that are overreported by the agenda-driven media. Floyd just happened to be a black man who got murdered by a white man and that was enough for these assholes to run away with this narrative that it was racially-driven. They had no proof of it but a white on black crime was too sexy of a story to not pass off as a racist act.

Ideally officers would never need to take anyone's life. But the data on police killings doesn't support reducing or abolishing law enforcement.
