What would be the best beach to go to close to Bangkok, Thailand?

Whats a good beach to stay at in Thailand, preferably no more more than 6 hours drive from Bangkok. We want to stay at the beach for about 3-4 days, we're thinking maybe Hua Hin? We're looking for a beach that is clean and has nice white sandy beaches and is also not full of too many tourists, we want to do swimming, snorkeling, stuff like that.
 
Rayong (or Rayon - as michael put it)
Many of my relatives who live in Bangkok go there regularly.

Edit: No problem, Michael. Not trying to be a know it all. Your spelling is OK too. But, living in Thailand, you would know that there is no "standard" when it comes to translating names from Thai to English, heh? LOL
 
Koh Chang - 4 hour drive from Bangkok going near Cambodian Border (Recommend)
Koh Samed - 3 hour drive from Bangkok going near Rayong (Recommended)
Pattaya - 2 hour drive from Bangkok (not recommended)
Cha Am - 2 1/2 hour drive from Bangkok
Hua Hin - 3 hours from Bangkok
