What would be the safest way to introduce yourself to a traditional Chinese family?

So I'm visiting my friend's house for the first time and i'm the first friend of hers that's a boy. I can be a bit eccentric even around adults and tend to get a little nosy sometimes when it comes to talking to parents. What's the best possible way to not seem awkward when my friend is not around? She says they like to talk about fishing, food, dance, and tennis/soccer. We're going to be seniors in high school so I don't want to sound ignorant or too rude.
So far I'm liking Daniel's response but what type of chinese food? I'm Indian so we kind of suck at making mexican food (although I guess soft tacos are similar to our flatbread-esque food)
