What's with Whatsapp?

Sorry hopefully this isn't too far off topic.
I've been getting matched up on Facebook lately with attractive Chinese ladies. Every last one of them "Does investments" and immediately wants to talk on Whatsapp. I know that there is a scam going on but I can't figure out the whatsapp part. Curious I have offered to to add them on wechat and they suddenly go missing.
Lately I have had a few therapists ask to add me on whatsapp so I can message them to make sure they are available when booking. Is this pretty innocent or something I need to be careful of?

I had read recently that WhatsApp was readding (they apparently had this feature previously) the ability to transfer funds.

I'm assuming they would ask you for money at some point, but as long as your not stupid, there would be no harm in chatting through WhatsApp.

Well, beside wasting time with those fake accounts I guess.

Ahh Ok. I was just a little worried because I read a article about how easy whats app was to hack. They can get all your phones contact info and even see who you are chatting to.

OK, WhatsApp was supposed to be an encrypted messaging app so no one was supposed to be able to crack the code. Even WhatsApp and Facebook are supposedly not able to decrypt all the private message sent so law enforcement cannot track anything.
Facebook owns WhatsApp and Instagram so there will be information shared amongst those too. Not your private messages but more your habits and contacts would be shared. This data mining is to stream more advertising to you to generate more ad revenue.
In India, digital currency feature has been enabled so you can pay merchants for any goods and services. You can even send money to each other. Facebook is still actively experimenting their cryptocurrency to see how it would shake up the world's banks monopoly.
So, back to your original inquiry: WhatsApp messages are secure and private from law enforcement so it's harder to track and seek help when you need it. Digital currency may be on the horizon for the rest of world so depending on how patient the scammers are, they will rope you in slowly. Promise you the world, lead you on and you are emotionally attached, you send money their way.
And when the Facebook's cryptocurrency goes live, you convert your CAD$ to that as part of the scam. Those are the reasons why they want to add and communicate with you on WhatsApp.

As for the WeChat disappearance when you wanted to add them, it's because the platform is heavily monitored by CCP and any information you exchange will be gathered as part of Intelligence gathering. If it's serious enough, they will investigate and bust the scams. Also, because WeChat servers are located in China, no one else can audit the data transmission except CCP.
All subject to being monitored. Scammers know that and do not like being tracked or watched.

Very well explained @welldunn66 on where WhatsApp and Facebook are going. It is free for a reason and that is because you are the product to be advertised to and information mined from. This is why I've moved to using Signal. An open source, secure platform that is not built to monetize your usage. If Signal is secure enough for Edward Snowden, then it's more than good enough for me.

Ahh ok they are playing the long game in hopes with this cryptocurrency.

I was just a little bit worried because I saw programs that promise to hack whatsapp for a fee. But they are probably a scam to. And hack you instead lol.

It’s a scam.They will send you lots of photos of them living a luxury lifestyle with brand name bags,sexy clothes while asking you to invest in London gold.After getting your account info,they will drain your account empty and then disappear.
