What's your opinion about today's music and should rock music be re-introduced?

Im tired of hearing today's music where majority of the songs have annoying choruses and simple beats repeated over and over, are played by artists that can't sing musically(if you know how bad it is when you watch them live or when they lip-sing, you'll understand) , and are about sex,clubs, and other bad influences. I understand that maybe some songs are really good, but if you look at current music as a whole, it's true in my opinion. What's your opinion about today's music?

Also, I miss rock music(I mean A LOT! Favs: Nirvana, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, etc.), but there's barely any popular modern rock bands. Do you think rock music should make a come back to today's society and maybe re-introduce 80s and 90s styles?

I believe that rock music is actually coming back . I mean the great idols ( like Kurt and John Lennon ) can't be matched again . However , oldies are getting popular after being very close to disappear . And in my part of the world ( Syria ) Rock and Metal are spreading very widely out here . Black Sabbath , The Verve , Metallica and other good bands are becoming so much popular . I hope the good days come back again

I complete understand what ur saying. Today's music has no real meaning, it's just the same thing over and over! Rock from the 80's and 90's had some sort of deeper meaning. yeah, some of them talked about sex and drugs but that's what Rock n Roll was. I would love for rock to come back but I fear rock will never be the same I personally love Mötley Crüe and Iron Maiden

People always bitch about music today and say that the music of decades ago was vastly superior. That's not necessarily true at all. Mainstream music has always been made to make money shit and those subjects have been the same back then (just less blatant). And the "awesome" music of the past is only "awesome" because people obviously aren't going to remember the rubbish and the mediocre stuff. Only the popular stuff will survive and be kept in mind.

The music of today never got worse or better. It just changed. There is no good or bad for something subjective like music taste. Everyone loves the Beatles seemingly. I think they are shit. Why am I wrong just because the majority love them?

I don't care about Rock. I would just like to see more music being made with actual instruments.

Just because rock isn't getting as much radioplay or isn't a main priority in popular culture doesn't mean there aren't a lot of great bands making music great music. Check out forums and open your mind up to a lot of the alternative/indie scene youd be shocked how many great bands are coming up.

I absolutely love rock! Your so right it's all beats and auto-tune behind a studio now a days no one uses real instruments or there voices anymore.

Kind of like how rock started dying and then punk rock was invented by The Ramones and it just got reinvented. I find it hard to believe it will happen. I barely listen to any new bands. While I understand why you are saying this, everyone else is right. Rock music is still pretty much alive today, they are just hidden. It's true, mainstream music has moved towards rap/hip-hop music (a genre I don't care for at that) and the rock bands they are spitting out, are questionable. But seriously, you have to look beyond the mainstream. Here's a suggestion, TURN OFF THE RADIO. Go to websites that play all kinds of music to the style you like. Podcasts are great for finding new bands or online radio websites that cater to the style of music you like. Trust me, I did this and I was surprised how many good bands are out there but just aren't mainstream and for me personally, I think it's a good move by some of them. The music industry likes to change things with their signed bands/artists to what would be likely to sell. In this case ,the band or singer would have to "sell out" to get big and some bands who aren't on the radio probably don't want to do that.

My point is, just keep searching, you'll find some bands, trust me.
