When should we introduce our new budgie to our other one?

Our budgie is roughly 1.5 years old
We have just brought home an 8 week old baby an hour ago and are a little unsure as to when they should be put into the same cage.
They are currently in separate cages next to each other.
When should they be put together?

well i had a budgie ( a female ) for a few days she seemed lonely so i bought a male after that who was a bit older than her. i let them meet right away and they had a blast, but with your situation its different so i suggest keep them separate for a few more hours or what not or for at least a full day so they can notice each other. not too sure

I went to the pet store before and asked them almost the same question and they told me to keep their cages next to each other for 12 hours. The reason, The older budgie will be territorial if you put the younger budgie in the same cage too soon. If their cages are next to each other for a while they be more comfortable around each other and be excited to meet each other.

It's a good idea to leave them sitting next to each other for a few more hours, because then they can see each other for a longer period of time and get to know their cages and so that the younger bird knows that the older one won't hurt it, so just in case something does happen, they can't get through to each others cages.
But you should introduce them asap so that they will get used to living with each other
