When to start introducing wet/dry cat food to kittens?

Hi. Our cat had 3 kittens and we are wondering when to start feeding them wet cat food. Tomorrow they will be 5 weeks old. When will the mother cat stop producing milk? One of the kittens is pretty playful, but really thin and has to struggle to get milk because its litter mates push it away from the mother to feed. It randomly started tilting her head to the right recently, and it makes her walk unbalanced. She was doing perfect until we took her inside and she started acted really scared and shaking and went into a fit. Should we wait and see if her neck will straighten out? Thanks.

I would get that kitten seen by a vet.

The mother cat will still be producing milk, but they are at the age to be transitioned to solids. Actually, since wet food cannot be left out for long or it will spoil, I would put some dry kitten chow and a water bowl out for them, and the mother will teach them what that is for.

Dry kitten chow is useful for her also, as she needs the extra calories. And kittens have small stomachs, and are growing rapidly, so being able to snack day and night at their leisure will work well.

Mom will stop producing milk shortly after the kittens quit nursing. I introduce wet cat food (Friskies) and dry kitten food (hard to find) when they are 6 weeks old. Most will start then with relish but there is always some straggler who think mom is best.

With the rest of the crew eating your thin one will have mom mostly to themselves though the others may return for snack time occasionally. Eight weeks of age - if they are healthy and weaned - is a good time to start finding homes for them. Without the kittens mom will dry up. This would be a good time to get her fixed, while she is still in the loving mood. She will also come into heat immediately and if not fixed may get pregnant immediately.

I have one mama cat who likes kittens so much she has stolen her sisters baby's incorporating them into her own litter!

what i did when my cat had kittens was i put some dry food in a bowl and then put a fourth on the dry food and then the cat will stop producing milk when all the kittens don't need it anymore, and i don't know about the neck thing put it were it wants to go.
