When to treat an IVF client

Hi, I am looking for advice please.........I am a recently qualified Reflexologist and have been seeing a client for a couple of months who is about to start IVF treatment. Could someone please advise me as to IF and when I can treat her during her IVF treatment.

Your aim is to make sure she is fully balnced prior to the treatment so I would give her a full reflexology treatment, once a week for four weeks to get her relaxed and in balance before the treatment starts. It is a very stressful time so the relaxation is as important as the rest of the treatment . I would do lots of work on the solar plexus and the spine and a lot of monotonous movements to help her relax.
As regards the IVF, you want to make sure her endocrine system is in balance so I would work the pituitary, thyroid, thymus, adrenal, uterus, and ovaries. I would also work the elimination systems to remove all toxins and waste, lymhatic, urinay and digestive. I would also work the fallopian tubes.
I would be inclined to talk about her treatment with her and carry on with the treatment if only for relaxation as well while she is going through it all.

Thank you so much Jane. She is really enjoying her treatment, especially the relaxation aspect, she talks more and more to me and we develop a professional relationship. I just needed clarification that it was indeed safe to continue treating her and check that there were no contraindications. Thank you.

It is indeed safe to treat an IVF client. The main thing to remember that during her treatment, she will be put into an artificial menopause and then hyper-regulated to produce multiple eggs - hardly a state of homeostasis!

The best thing is to concentrate on relaxation and anti-stress reflexes whilst all this is going on. If you were to work on the endocrine or reproductive systems, you would in fact be working against what the IVF treatment was achieving. (As reflexology tries to restore homeostasis).

Interestingly, a trial was done where acupuncture was delivered alongside IVF and the success rate improved by 40%. As we know, reflexology works along very similar lines to acupuncture, so good luck with your client
