A while ago it happened to me. My flight from JFK was delayed and arrive around midnight at HKG. I had reserved a room in Shenzhen and my business partner was waiting. I had to get to Shenzhen somehow because of an meeting in the morning.
There are no Bus service from HKG to Shenzhen after 10 PM or so.
Louhu border closes at midnight and opens at 6.30 am.
Huangang border is open 24 hours.
From HKG airport you can take a taxi to Hungang border. It will cost you almost 600 HKD. Even taxi are hard to find at that hour. Fortunately I met a guy who wanted to go to Shenzhen also. We tried to get a taxi but were not successfull.
There are several buses which go from various points in Hong Kong City to Huangang Border all night. There is one in Mongkok. To catch this you need to take E 21 Bus I believe which goes along Nathan Road and get off at Mongkok. Ash around to find out where the bus leaves from, It is on a side street from Nathan road. The bus makes two stops. Once at Hong kong immigration exit but you can leave your luggage in the bus. The bus will be waiting for you on the other side. Next one is China immigration. Here you take all your luggage. Once cleared you need to climb up stairs and go other side where metered taxis wait. Do not go with touts who offer taxi. It is a scam.
If you are going to Louhu area it is very far from this order.
There are many other points like TST, Wanchai, Central where there are buses going to Huangang Border all night.

if you're traveling in the middle of the night the one border that should be open 24 hours is HUANGGANG by BUS ONLY though...last I checked about 40 hkd and fast.
this border takes you near the free trade zone in FUTIAN.

I plan to visit Shenzen shortly and arriving at Hong Kong airport at a late hour. What is the Best way to travel to Shenzen and will the Border (Immigration be open during the early morning hours as I arrive close to midnight. I hope to stay at the Best Western Felicity (sp) hotel.
Any suggestion and answer to this question is greatly appreciated.

is a japanese brand that sells high end retail.
They have a store that you are talking about with a Barbershop village behind.
you should go to GUO MAO STATION
exit...ask for SUNSHINE HOTEL
AT SUNSHINE HOTEL stand on the CORNER.
Look across the street...not to the right or left. but directly on the other corner opposite you.
LOOK FOR the big, white SEIBU building in front of you.

go to that building. Inside the block of that building are neighborhoods of haircut shops.

OK..........Most of the street action I encountered was behind the Shangri-la hotel. The touts will begin to talk to you as soon as you leave the hotel and walk to the right. It seems pretty much day or night. Pimps will also be outside the Western Felicity hotel which is across the tracks from the Shangr-la. Going rate seems to be 150rmb, not higher. Behind the Shangri-la is a warren of alleys which although intimidating to a 1st timer seem completely safe. Pimps will be there also. Some will be trying to sell you rooms in a short time hotel and then a girl. You wont need the room. The pimps let you use a bedroom. The girls that I saw seemed attractive and worth the money. Massage parlor are more expensive and they sell full sex. I found one barbershop and its offering were not that appetizing. I was unable to find the nearby Subei Department Store which was mentioned several limes on the forum. My guess is that it is no longer. I found a Subei store in Futian and I completely investigated the neighborhood and found nothing.

Okay......I am in Shenzhen. Just got off of the train from Hong Kong. There is a plaza. On the north side is the Shangri La Hotel. On the south is the Luohu Shopping Mall. On the West is the Shenzhen Traqin Station. The east side is open. Where do I go from here to find the barbershops, the Subei Building (Behind which if you rtff you will find plenty of action.), etc. I am constrained by commitments and the weather is lousy. Please help me get my bearings. Thanks loads
