Hi all, i'm travelling to phuket on the 3rd jan, after spending nye in bangkok.
But i have no idea where to stay, i'm coming over with my gf (thai) and her friend so what i really wanted to know is, where on the island has more thai people, and maybe not so farangy, i think i'm gonna stay away from patong, but where would people suggest?.

I don't want anywhere too quite though 'cos i'll be on the piss every day!.

I'll still be going over to patong for at least one night anyway to see what its like.

Now i just need a place to stay!!. hopefully i can find somewhere ok when i get paid.

I think Azza means kata/karon Beach area....next main beach area south of Patong.....rather than Kathu
 
By your description I suggest you stay in Phuket Town you will find very few farang, there are more Thai's.
