Which oils for gift?

Hi,

My girlfriend has recently passed her IHM diploma course - im thinking of buying her some oils as a xmas gift. Can anyone help as to what oils I need to get and where from?

Hi trej,

Are you thinking of essential oils, carrier oils, or pre-blended oils as a gift for your girlfriend?

If you are thinking of essential oils, may I suggest - Patchouli, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang and Tulsi. If your girlfriend is not an aromatherapist it might be easier buying some preblended oils in which case Neals Yard or Tisserand may have some nice blends to choose from.

I would get some carrier oils for her too if she has none...coconut oil especially.

Hi Binah she is not an aromatheripist so im thinking essential oils are not a good idea? I have no idea which oils she would be looking for. What are carrier oils??? Am I better off buying these than pre-blended?

Ged - I had a quick look on http://www.essentiallyoils.com/ but couldnt find the starter kits. Also would these be suitable if she is not an aromatherapist?

I know it's a bit late now as it's nearly christmas, but for future reference Dabur Vatika Coconut oil is a nice all rounder. Hesh Heenara oil is too. I'd avoid getting any oils with mineral oil in them.
Unscented oils like Sesame, Coconut, Sweet Almond and Grapeseed are good choices too.

If you are not an aromatherapist stick with carrier oils. I'm a real fan of using olive oil on the hair and scalp as it is an excellent condiitoner, you can add a bit of burdock macerated oil to it.
