One inclusion in this list of entertainment spots "scrupulous about following the law" is a big surprise!
"Eight businesses in Phuket have received “white entertainment venue” certificates, indicating that they are scrupulous about following the law.
The eight are The Green Man Pub in Chalong; Zanzibar at the Royal Phuket City Hotel and the Walk In Pub in Phuket City; Phuket Bar, Baan Lai Mai and Crocodile Discotheque in Patong; and Surin Beer Garden and Koy Karaoke in Thalang District."
Each entertainment place that applies for a white certificate is visited and checked once a month.
To receive the certificate they must get at least 80 points out of 100. Points are allocated as follows:
Up to 40 points for adhering to legal opening hours, not permitting drugs or obscene shows, and not serving customers under the age of 20.
Up to 40 points for their policy on preventing and solving the drug problem, educating employees, and not employing illegal workers.
Up to 20 points for performing regular checks on employees’ health and keeping the premises clean and safe.
Not so sure about the 'White' Certificate term - not exactly PC!
