WHITEHALL, Ohio -
A Whitehall man has been charged after several women claimed he inappropriately touched them during massages.
Whitehall police arrested 54-year-old William Pratt and charged him with one count of rape. Police say the women reported Pratt would rub his genitals on their hands and body during massages.
The alleged acts were performed at Pratt’s 'My Massage' parlor on 5300 East Main Street in Whitehall.
Neighbors of Pratt said he’s never been especially social. Most weren’t sure what exactly he did for a living but they never expected this.
“It makes you kind of nervous when you have them kind of people across the street,” neighbor Pamela Pate said.
The State Medical Board of Ohio’s website shows Pratt’s Massage therapist license has been active since 2010.
According to a currently running Groupon and Pratt’s own website he specializes in massage for Cancer patients and is affiliated with Mount Carmel Health Systems.
Nobody answered the door at the west Columbus home he shares with his wife. And across town in Whitehall, the suite he leases in a multi-unit office building is closed for the day.
It is there that Whitehall police say Pratt sexually assaulted three women, regular clients in their late 40s and 50s who’d been getting massages from Pratt for health reasons.
Detectives say Pratt rubbed his genitals on the hands or arms of two women and attempted to perform oral sex on the third.
Pate doesn’t know what to think, but knows what she would’ve done if it happened to her.
“I think she should’ve jumped up off the table and drop kicked him into his next life,” Pate said.
Maria Barr, who has known Pratt since she moved across the street from him about 20-years-ago, says she’s most concerned about some of Pratt’s younger neighbors.
“He’s close by I’d hate to see I mean because we got nothing but kids around here and there’s a school district right around the corner here,” Barr said.
Mount Carmel Health Systems released a statement reading:
"We are aware of William Pratt's arrest, and we take these charges very seriously. William Pratt has never been and is currently not an employee of Mount Carmel. The safety and well-being of our patients are our top priority, and we have immediately terminated all freelance services he provides at Mount Carmel."
Pratt was arraigned in Franklin County Court on rape and sexual imposition.
