Who wears scrubs?

I'm not sure this is the right place for this, so if it isn't, please feel free to move.

For those of you who wear scrubs, do you have a favorite brand, and why? How do they fit and launder? Where do you purchase them?

After 11 years of wearing athletic wear to work, I am considering switching to scrubs, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I usually get very warm when I work, and I want something light to wear that is unrestricting and easily washable. Scrubs seems to fit the bill in that regard.

Anyone make the leap at such a late point in their careers? How did your clients react?

(BTW - I am a sole practitioner in private practice.)

I like Cherokee. My husband likes Landau.

I have no problem with getting hot in scrubs. Will try to get back to this thread later to answer the rest of your q's!

I went the other way from scrubs (or a scrub shirt and jeans) to either athletic wear or, increasingly often, regular business casual attire. I'm also an independent practitioner (only 4 years, though) and I made this transition within the last 6 months and haven't gotten any reaction either way.

But when I DID wear scrubs, I loved both Cherokee and Landau, too. My VERY favorites, though, are Metroscrubs! They rock! In fact, I *sometimes* still wear those...they have sort of an athletic ER feel to them. Their cut and shape are good, and the material isn't thick per se, but is less thin than the other brands, if that makes sense (For the record, however, overheating is not an issue.) You can get all 3 brands at mall chain stores like Scrubs & Beyond (which I *think* is a national chain, so you may have one close to you).

I sometimes wear scrub tops from Scrub Med. They have an at least once a year overstock type sale here in my town, and the prices are usually quite good if purchased during that sale. I like the pretty bright fabrics, and they wash and hang wrinkle free..............(ironing went out with the use of thumb screws, as far as I'm concerned.......).

I can't imagine my clients reacting one way or the other. My attire is eclectic. Usually the only time anyone comments is if I happen to be exceptionally color coordinated. (i.e. "Wow! Everything you have on matches today!")

I do find the scrubs to be quite practical and well made, and if you go with festive patterns, they hide a host of time added imperfections. I would not ever personally wear a solid, so can't speak to how they hold up.

I went from casual wear (including scrub tops) to fancy spa wear (spauniforms.com), in my home-studio massage practice. The first few sessions my clients did act surprised and say "OH! So professional!" but after a session or two, they completely adjusted and I haven't had any changed interactions with any of my clients. I find them to be perfectly comfortable in all temperatures.

I have to say, I really love the fancy spa attire. When you get good outfits, they do look nice and keep leaning toward those because you can use them for most any type of physician/massage practice as a female.

Oh, and for laundering... the scrubs I use are great. I can keep a pair for at least two to three years usually.

I LOVE SCRUBS t041 I get them at a local uniform store (I have to try on my clothes first) also there is a small selection for men.

I typically only wear scrub bottoms since they still look good with polo shirts. But I really like Landau for men because of the many cargo pockets good for carrying my supplies.

avoid scrub tops unless you're a surgeon...just my opinion

I am transitioning from renting space in a salon & spa, to renting a room with an acupuncturist and a homeopathologist. I have decided to go with scrubs in my new place.

I worked for a couple of years at a franchise and wore casual clothes, the salon they wanted more stylish and only 3 colors I could wear. I am excited about wearing the scrubs, as I will be in a more healing environment.
