Colour is such a critical part of our daily life. Whether you hope to achieve a soothing ambiance, a vibrant feeling, a nostalgic aura or any other type of atmosphere, that mood can be transformed and created though the careful use of colour. Colour also helps shape your style -- be it modern, contemporary or traditional, there are the right tones for each look. Sometimes a colour that is fun and fresh, such as a shade of turquoise or a limewash in a laundry room, adds a splash of life! Yet one should remember when choosing the right colour you must not only love the shade, but love living with the colour and have the desire to make it work.
Given that colour can play such an important role in the decor of a home, why is it that people tend to stick to 'safe' shades such as neutrals, whites or beiges? What is it that makes people skittish to use bolder palettes when decorating?
