Why does it feel better when someone touches you/ massages you?

Like when a guy holds you in his arms. Why does it feel better when your skin is touched by a hand or someone else? I have always notices that I like the feeling of being touched by someone else then myself. Like if I rub my back or arm it doesn't feel as good ....being rubbed by some else feels better
I felt like this should be in the health section because it related to the body. Answers suggested health.
