we all have seen our cats massage blankets,our laps,pillows, etc, but lately my (healthy) 10 year old persian likes to massage my face! she refuses to cuddle and hates being picked up or sitting on laps but insists on giving me a tummy massage daily and is now starting to massage my face.

is this just an extreme form of affection? lol
 
When cats are kittens they massaged their mothers nipples to stimulate milk. That is the instinct their acting on.

Because cats are freaks! Don't get me wrong, I love cats and have two of my own. My oldest cat has been a face licker all her life. It's disgusting, but almost too cute to resist. But to answer your question, maybe she just likes the way your skin feels on her paws!
