You should have proof of citizenship if entering the country.
Birth Certificate, Passport, Voter Card will work, Green Card.
A government issued photo ID is a must. (Drivers License)
If you go through the tunnel, the cost is 2.75 American, or 4.00 Canadian. If you plan on this being a regular thing, you can buy a roll of tunnel tokens for 40.00 american, or 60.00 canandian. This is the best buy. Because there is only 1 lane through the tunnel, and there are fewer lanes for customs, you might find longer delays.
If you cross the bridge, the cost is 2.75 American, or 4.00 Canadian. But they give you a coupon good at the duty free store for .50 There is one lane across the bridge for cars, and one for trucks. But there are more customs lanes available to check cars through.
Standard questions are:
Citizenship?
Where are you going?
How long are you staying?
Do you have any alcohol, firearms, or tobacco. (Only bring enough cigerettes to tide you over for the trip. Too many and they might charge you duty.
Money:
Canadian exchange is 1.50 - 1.60 per US dollar. The Casino gives the best exchange rate on average, and there are many ATMs that do not charge a fee, however depending on your bank, they might. There are also money marts that offer cash exchange, and the Duty Free shops also offer it. But the rate is lower than the casino. As of Today, it is 1.52 and varies day to day.
