Ontario police have charged a young woman after finding a dead chocolate lab puppy in a hot car in Huntsville, Ont., Wednesday morning.
Const. Lynda Cranney said the 14-month-old dog had been left in the car for three hours with no water, the windows rolled up and no air conditioning.
Temperatures in Huntsville were 28 C at the time, and Cranney said it's five times hotter inside a car.
Cops have charged a 24-year-old Huntsville woman with causing an animal to suffer. She's due in court July 20.
The Ontario SPCA will conduct a post-mortem on the pup.
"It's very important that people don't leave animals or children or seniors in a warm car at any time with windows down and no water or air conditioning running," Cranney said.
