Two women working at a downtown massage parlor fended off a pepper-spray wielding man looking to rob the business early Wednesday evening.
According to Lt. Ivan Valencia of the Modesto Police Department, a man entered Day Spa at 702 18th St. and pepper-sprayed one of the two female employees in the building. There were no customers there at the time, Valencia said.
Either one or both of the employees blocked the suspect from gaining further access into the tight-quartered entry into the business, and he eventually was forced out of the building.
The women locked the door and called police.
There was no immediate suspect information.
