Working in multiple locations

For those of you who work as an independent contractor in two (or more) locations, how do you arrange your schedule? Do you have a set schedule for each location? Or do you go wherever the appointment is scheduled first?

For instance, say you can work on Tuesday between noon and 4. Do you give that time frame to location A regardless, or do you work at location B if they call first?

When I did do it (currently only at one location) I had a set schedule. I liked that everyone knew where they stood. I do well on a set schedule personally, I like knowing where I might be expected, even if I didn't have anyone booked. It helped prevent double booking where both clinics are booking appointments in and around the same time. Also saved on a lot of driving. clinic A wants you in the morning, clinic B has someone in the afternoon, and Clinic A has someone for you for the evening.

All in all I prefer working in one location

Like Myrrha, I used to work at another location in addition to working from home. I also had a set schedule for each place. I liked that nothing conflicted, and I also liked being able to drive once TO the other location, schedule appts as efficiently as possible during the time I was there, and then drive back, (versus criss-crossing the suburbs several times in one day). Doing this eliminated the possibility of double-booking. And I also prefer working in one location (mine ) overall.

I work for a chiro, have my own business, and have another weekend gig. If I didnt have set schedkues for all 3 places, I would surely go insane! I had overly flexible schedules a few years ago, and I just ended running around in circles, not making anyone happy (especially myself).

I have my own business and set my own hours there (four days a week). I work for a hospital in the evenings, and the hours are "semi-set," if that makes sense. I could end up there anywhere from 3-6 evenings per week, which is kind of a pain... but it's all dependant upon the surgery schedule, which changes weekly. I love the gig, though, so I'm hanging on to it for the time being.
I also watch my nephews two days a week... for now. When my clientele builds up a bit more, I may have to let that go... :

I am just now trying to put together a schedule for working in two locations, and one is out of state.

I'm going to start off working every third weekend (Fri-Mon) in the new location (NH) which is a day spa, and the rest of the time in my private practice in MA. As my NH business builds, I'm hoping to spend more and more time there.

I have a new graduate working in my MA office who has decided she'd like to rent space from me. So we're trying to create a schedule whereby she will have the office for herself on certain days/hours in order to build her business.
