World need USA to introduce modern style Marshall Plan?

Gordon Brown, UK's previous president, says the USA must introduce a modern style Marshall Plan to prevent the world economy from spiraling out of control. In case some of you are not familiar with the Marshall Plan, it was a program introduced by America that funded the rebuilding of Europe, to prevent them from becoming 3rd world nations. So Englanf got some 30 billion dollars of American tax money, Germany got a bit more and so on.
Now Britain's president says America should develop another plan like that. Are these foreigners crazy? We, ourselves, are in the sh!tters. How can we fund these nations again? And for the past few decades, England, Germany, Russia and France have all claimed to be rich and powerful. Well, where is their power now? I've always said to the Europeans that they are strong because of American financial and military back up. Without us, the power easily moves to the East with China, India growing and Japan already the third biggest economy. Why should we fund Europe?? We've done enough. Now if they're going bankrupt nation by nation, I don't care. Sorry, but this time America won't help you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am under the impression that Europe paid the US back every cent.

West Germany's final payment was in 1971. The UK's final payment was as recent as 2006.

And also, the US did not finance Europe out of good will. The US did it to save their own skin. The Soviet Union was right there, and if the UK, France, West Germany and Italy fell into the Soviet sphere, the US would've been all alone.

We have a monarchy, a Royal family.. who own a government to run this nation so we elect a not a minister but a Prime Minister honestly XD f***** Americans xD...

and gorden brown can not say anything one he was not elected to lead second of all he failed when he did and thats is why he is EX PM and he shall remain so no 1 has to take his ideas anymore.

It was America who started the entire banking crysis.

What British president? There is not such a thing in the United Kingdom.
One cannot compare Gordon Brown's remarks to anything that happened after WWII. Europe was in shambles after WWII and West Germany had to become NATO's ally and not an enemy so leaving it rot, possible France and and the UK too would have seen an enlarged Soviet bloc. The British and Free French were fighting the war,includingg the Japanese before the USA came on board.
May I also remind you that the credit crunch started in none other than the USA and their ultra free market experiment.
What Gordon Brown spoke of was investment from all countries to replenish the economies of the world. He was not asking for a US led bailout as the problem started in the economy.
