"Worst economy in 60 yrs" = Best weekend ever

I guess the chattering classes forgot to tell people they were too broke to celebrate Valentine's Day by going to hotels and getting massages - 80% of what we did were couples massages too.

We were slammed in most cities -- fully staffed and turning folks away. And not just Saturday, Sunday too! Restaurants were the same way.

Good news...next year VDay is on the Sunday of the President's Day weekend, so more of the same!!

Yes, we were slammed too at the spa where I work.

I did 3 couples massages in the afternoon on Friday. Great way to start off a romantic weekend!

We only had 2 couples rooms available but we had six massage therapists fully booked on Saturday. The only way we could have done more would have been to stay open later Friday and Saturday night and offer to have a 2nd shift come in. :

We're not open on Sunday. Good thing, I need a rest... well, and a massage! :massage:

Well I was on the receiving end on Friday! I actually got 2 massages! :grin:

One was a student massage at school and the other was from woman long in the field and ohhh boy did she find my trigger points with laser precision!

Same here. We were booked solid. We had 6 couples massages in addition to regular massage clients, mani/pedi, and esthetician services!

Yep! Our spa was completely booked. Every available room was booked for every time slot all day friday and saturday! i worked both days, so it was a good weekend for me too.

I'll chime in with more of the same! Booked solid Friday and Saturday - and did infact work late into Saturday night. Today I could have been booked again but I needed a break and stuck with 4 massages. Tomorrow I'm booked up again and could easily book 3 more massages if I didn't think it would do me in!

All in all, for a crappy economy, I'm actually growing and doing quite well for my first year as a full time massage therapist.

Us, too! Super-busy all weekend, and many people coming in 2s and 3s. Sold a lot of gift cards the last few days, and booked some turnaways for other days/times.

Despite the down economy, people are still inclined to take care of each other. I was touched that a client I just saw for the first time on Friday chose to bring her mother to me today. The client loved what I did for her neck problem, and hoped I could give her mother as much relief for her hip. I did my best, and despite a little post-massage dizziness, the mom was carrying her cane rather than using it on her way out the door.

I love weekends like this!

We also had a great weekend. We are not as big as some, but did manage to get in 3 couples massages plus I personally had a full load of my own besides on Friday and Saturday. I personally had 9 hours of massage between the two days.

We offered comlimentary foot scrubs with a couples massage. Some opted for it, but we did give the men the option of just wrapping their feet in hot towels.

We are planning on doing this again in May for Mother's Day and will even be open ON Mother's Day in the afternoon and later on Saturday afternoon into the evening for couples massage only.

Had a good weekend here. Worked Fri., Sat. and Sunday --- and was busy the whole time.

Side note: My Sundays are getting more and more busy. I am up to working every other Sunday nowdays. I think this has to do with more people working longer hours on their jobs and utilizing the Sunday massage option.

If you don't work Sundays, it may be something to think about folks!

Same here! Busy Friday, slammed Saturday. We even had a waiting list, in case of cancellations. I did 8 services on Saturday, staying late to accomodate one lady. We did a lot of gift card sales too, so we'll be keeping busy with those the next few weeks as well.

I agree! I'm open every Sunday and am booked every single one! It's an incredibly popular day and many places aren't open so it's been a nice little niche for me.

We were booked solid today, too. Things will probably settle a bit mid-week, but next weekend should be cookin'. Have a corporate chair massage gig on Thursday too. Looks like this will be a good week!

Now I am looking forward to this same weekend next year!

I just got back from a Valentine's Day getaway vacation in Egypt, but I have to say that the holiday is really picking up here in Germany. I sold quite a few GC's even though the people buying them knew that I would be away.
