Would you advertise on a site like this?

So I was searching for massage directories, and came across this one: http://www.massagesoup.com/What a neat idea, but 1) they separate their therapists by gender and 2) they use the dreaded words "masseur and "masseuse". I just don't see very many good reasons to arrange therapists by gender, and when that's combined with lack of respectful titles, it really decreases the site's (and hence the advertisers') credibility in my mind.So I emailed them and told them exactly why I would never advertise with them now and told them what they could do to change that. Now I know I'm the first one around here to defend sex workers and blame it all on our local and state governments for trying to legislate morality, but this site just doesn't work for me... I'd like to hear your opinions on it, too.

See, these sites amaze me.  I checked in my area and there are reputatable spas, chains and well-known spa and salon locales in Southern California but mixed right in with the others are the masseurs with pics with no shirts on and female massuesses in bikinis in swimming pools.  And of course, sandwiched between Swedish, Deep Tissue and Acupressure is the all famous "sensual massage".  Was I absent that day?   I say, it's your own personal decision.  Joe E.

ummm...well i looked in the southern california and i thought it was ok there is  the franchise i work for (but not the particular location)and a lot of lare nice spas but i didnt see any bikinis ar anything sexual. but the massage soup makes me feel like a E! chanel show.

i looked at the site, thought the same thing reminded me of the E channel and talk soup. lol i thought the site was okay i wouldnt have a problem advertising there iv seen alot worse. i was adevertising with one site and stopped they started letting people have shirtless pics some men were totally nude. 17 massage therapist listed in atlanta and 15 of those offered sensual massage i had to pull my ad no way i could compete.

Hmmmm...I checked the ad for the NY area. I could not help but notice how hulky bulky most of the "massuers" were. It looked like a spread for a different kind of magazine and almost looked like advertising for a dating service. One of the massuers even had a pic of him without any briefs (nude upper body shot from the bikini line)and listed his height and weight...huh? What does that have to do with anything? Half the male 'massuers' advertised had upper body nude shots.Now I'm certainly no prude - but.....No doubt there are legitimate therapists equally listed...but those few DO give massage a whole nother flavor.

in some ways i can understand guys having shirtless pics. its not fair but people will hire you based on what you look like... i know a few guys that post shirtless pics but offer totally legit services. anf calvin c all show shirtless guys in their ads its part of marketing..

Word. Can you believe I actually tried the phonebook first?  How last millennium, right? In more ways than one... there were two sections, one just "massage" and the other "massage - therapeutic"... now what do you suppose the difference between those two is? But both were filled with ads for "sensual", a modality they don't offer at my school. ;-)

here in atlanta when you list in some publications you will see. massage or massage therapy. the ones that give their license number go under massage therapy. everyone else goes under massage or body work. being certified i turn down about 10 customers a week who call asking for sensual massage,. but ga being such a relaxed state not all cmt's turn it down.. hear excuses from other cmts like well being guys we have to market ourselfs harder that women. another excuse i hear is the way things work in school isnt how it works in the real world.. i dont really blame them but the legal system here for not having stronger laws..

Hi.I have no problem advertising on Massage Soup, personally.It is, a "soup".  When I first found it, mainly there were day spas and therapeutic people on it.  Apparantly, more of the "outgoing" therapists have found it and begun to advertise as well.  Oh, well.  :-/I think people who are looking for therapeutic will skip past the "sensual massage" and continue to look around the "soup".  The whole layout makes it pretty simple to surf, in my opinion.   And, if they don't find me, well, so be it.  Also, I am not out there to compete in "looks" to get more clientele, so I don't get too worried about people getting clients because they "advertise with their shirts off, but still give legit massages".  Personally, I don't want or need the kind of clientele who is even coming in because of something like that.   As far as placing our website up:  I know what I do and our website showcases that.  When people are surfing, they know very well what they will get when they come to our office, and that is good enough for me.  I would not however, advertise on something like that previous site mentioned on another post, where it is an "adult oriented massage site" and anyone can advertise.  That would be a bit beyond my mindset.
