Would You Use A Social Network For Massage Therapists?

I am a massage therapy student and graduate next month...woo hoo!

I am also a business student enrolled in an entrepreneurial program that requires a project business.

In doing research I have spoken to many therapists who say they would like a social network like MySpace that is designed just for massage therapists that would allow them to stay intouch with alumi, their massage school and market themselves to employers and clients.

My personal opinion on the idea is that there is a great need for that type of service in the massage industry and it would allow for a greater presence on the Internet for massage therapists.

I have decided to take this research further and go online to this forum and others to get feedback data on the idea.

Would you find helpful and use a social network for massage therapists? It would be FREE of course and designed to function like MySpace.

IMO, a lot of those sites are garbage and full of spammers and Illicit types. I've seen pretty much all of them. There are 4 or 5 major ones.

I think if you have an intention of somehow making money off a website, you should consider SBI. Click on "Quick Tour" at top of page. I was turned on to this by a fellow MT, and it works. There are a couple SBI'ers here, i think there's even a thread on this.

gets around 1500 page views a month. I am at the top of the search engines. Best yearly fee of 300 bucks I ever spent, hell, they have a money back guarantee. Normally to hire a "designer" you would pay thousands to get that traffic. I am not a web geek, the SBI program taught me all this stuff, it's not that hard. The forum support rocks.

You do have to work at it, you will notice tons of written content. This is what the search engines recognize, and gets you better rankings, thus more exposure.

I don't make a dime reffering you on this. But check it out.

I recently relocated from CT to Sc. I've used Meetup.com quite a bit to meet people with common interests, and although there is local interest in having a massage Meetup, it costs the organizer a little $$ to start it. so for now I only go to the alt. health Meetups.

Your site is very professional and looks great.

You would do well to join the SBI Affiliate program since you refer people anyway. Your website is a good example of the great service.

Also if you submit articles to EzineArticles dot com you would double your traffic. You can submit the content from your site as articles. You already have done the job and your content can work for you there as well.

Thanks for the compliment. No intention of preaching or selling, sorry if my post might have come across that way.

I have a few articles on Ezine. one on Helium also. The best thing to do, though, is write an original article that is not a duplicate of one of your pages, because this allows Ezine to get credit for it from the search engines, then hopefully the visitors will click on your site link at the bottom of your articel, but of course, only if they like your article!

Duplicating your page content word- for- word and posting it is actually frowned upon by the search engines, and if you do it too much, it will eventually drop you in rank when your site is re-spidered. Having links scattered willy-nilly all over your pages is another kiss of death.

But yes, having good, strong, one way inbound links is huge. Everybody loves Ezine, but it's also good to swap with some sites with relevant content. It's all about using the correct content-focused keywords, which this program enables you to do. My SBI Massage-buds have helped me out so incredibly outside the forums, too.

I'm sure there are some decent social networking sites, Meetup, which was mentioned here may be ok, obviously use good judgement, I would not recommend diving into this right out of school, though. But finding a good swap-partner would be a good thing.

My site is really more for educating current clients, which saves me time. You have to be realistic about traffic for a "practice- site", you're not going to get 800 visitors a day, but 25 to 40 is a realistic number. I still believe in doing it all the old fashioned way anyway.
