Writing a flyer for businesses involved in sale event Sat.

I am going to be participating again in the Chamber of Commerce's Old Armory Sale, where many businesses in town set up booths in the armory. It's kind of an indoor sidewalk days type event, where everyone is holding big sales. I'll be doing chair massage at 20% discount. Last time I did this I was totally new to all these other merchants, and now that I have been visible in the community repeatedly in the 1.5 years I have been a business, I would like to try to build relationships with other business owners/managers. I've been introduced.....now I'd like to offer chair massage at their place of business, freebies for referrals/brochure displays, and consignment on gift certificate sales. But I'm looking at a blank computer screen! Has anyone done anything like this? I'd like to pass these out at the sale (I'll have a helper - probably two of them for awhile, so questions can be answered, GC's sold, etc. while I massage). I'm up for suggestions on exactly how to write this.

do you happen to have a copy of Microsoft Publisher? If not then go to microsoft office template gallery and download a sample that will help you lay out the info. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting the format and figuring out what you want where. I would make a list of brain storm ideas of the message is that you want to get out. Then you can play around with how to lay it out. And maybe its more then one piece of collateral material. One info card could be directed towards the businesses you are targeting with info on doing chair work at their place. You could have a referral program info attached to that saying you offer 10.00 of their next massage for each referral. The way I would do that is mail it to them after who they referred gets their massage work done. Then maybe a piece on general massage benifits that they can put up at their offices to promote your busineess. One more thing, are you paying for your booth space? if so I would think hard on offering a 20% discount. Just curious. Anyways hope some of this sparks something in you to get going. Once you get started I bet you will have so many ideas of how to do this you'll have to throw some away. Gool luck and have fun with your marketing project.

I just have Microsoft Works on my computer - no office or Publisher, sadly. That is a good point about maybe doing different flyers for different types of businesses. I have the list of all participants.

Everyone is doing sales, several with everything at 50% discount, so I feel like I will do much better with a discount than without. Last time I did a 40% discount and made $100 after the $60 booth fee. However, the cost of supplies - face cradle covers alone! - eat into that, too. I felt that with not being so new, I can still do okay with just the 20% discount. I usually don't discount, so I know what you are saying about that, but this event is all about the discounts.

I'm also going to promote Valentines Day GC's and appointments, and maybe have a copy of my e-newsletter available as handouts.

Oh dear.....it's the 31st and I haven't written my newsletter!!!!! :shock:

you can always use viva paper towels with a Y cut into it, if you're in a pinch for FC covers. very soft and inexpensive.

Thanks, I forgot I'd read that! It's too late to order more covers, and I don't think I have enough for the whole day, so that is what I'll do!
These last minute things can get hairy!!

I don't even have word, but maybe they have templates for works! Do you really think that the vendors at the sale would *not* prefer just a short, concise flyer saying what I am offering them? I can do another brochure, but I have brochures to put with the vendor contact.....thing? I'm very happy with the brochures I have, but I want to very specifically offer consignment sales of gift certificates, bulk rates for gift certificates for the store owners'/managers use, and chair massage for their own special events. I just wonder if they would read another whole brochure, I especially wonder if they'd realize it wasn't just more of the same, since I'll already be giving them brochures. Am I thinking of it the wrong way?

I think a flyer is perfect in this situation, but that's just me. See if the above templates page doesn't spark your creativity. I thought Word came with Works, guess I was wrong, sorry.

Thanks. I thought word and works came together, too...imagine my surprise, LOL! I got the bare bones computer and didn't buy extra software. It's a budget thing.. :?

I think I got it, though. I have a flyer that is Vendors Only Specials, with 4 bullet points for the offers, a coupon farther down for today only...5 min upgrade on their chair massage (assuming they will all come to me for massage ) and then my name, logo and contact information. Short, sweet, they have to read it to get to the today's freebie.......I am just wondering if I should add something else to get them to contact me about the deals?

Today was the big event, and I got the flyers out to the other vendors! There was some "interest" - I guess I'll soon see what that generates!

At the last minute this morning, I pulled the discount! Actually I did it because I forgot to get singles yesterday, so $4 for a $5 massage was going to be a problem for me, but I thought it out and decided that anyone who wouldn't pay $5 probably wouldn't pay $4, either! I was right! I had a few 20 minute massages, tons of 10 minute and just a few 5. One 15. The ONLY person who balked at the cost was complaining because it wasn't free, so you were right on! Thanks! I thought of what you said and it gave me the courage to go for it!
