XBOX 360 newbie - what else do I need to buy?

I bought an XBOX 360 (256G) for my kids for Christmas which came with 3 games and also bought the newest Halo. My question is...other than a second controller, is there anything else that they will need to just set up and go on Christmas AM? I saw that there is a headset, would that be a must have? Thanks to all who can help!

the best experience to enjoying your xbox is to buy them a online xbox membership me being a kid i loved it you can get online and play with other people the headset is if u want to chat with other people while playing online. There is only some things you need the xbox live membership to play online also u should get some great games such as call of duty black ops and games that they enjoy

Are your kids going to be playing the xbox 360 online? Online is where they will be able to talk to people from all over the world and play their games along side or against those people. It really makes the xbox 360 worth all that money you had to fork out on it. And i guarantee your kids will love playing the xbox 360 online. you can use that to get them to do chores or finish homework. (trust me, my parents did that to me when I was 16 and it still worked lol). They're are also parental settings so that the xbox 360 will automatically shut down after a preset amount of time that you choose. If you have a wireless router then the xbox should already be ready to connect to the internet since the new xbox 360's have built in wifi.

One thing though is that you have to pay for "Xbox Live". (thats what the online play is called). you can buy an entire year for 60 dollars. (it sounds like a lot but for how much you children will enjoy it you will see that it is worth it!).

One thing that i recommend that they have is a Headset. the xbox should have already came with one but in case it didnt id go get one.

Another thing is rechargeable batteries!!! i can not stress this enough. You should get a "quick charge kit" and a have one more rechargeable battery than you do controllers. so for instance if you have 2 controllers then id recommend 3 rechargeable batteries. These rechargeable bettery packs will save you so much money in the long run. If you dont get this your kids will eat through double A's like they were M&M's. Rechargeable batteries and the quick charge kit are a must.

Other than that id say you already have what you need to get. Maybe additional games down the road but other than that you kids should be set to have an awesome time.

(By the way, the games that come with the xbox are usually not all that great. that's why they get thrown in for free)

Only get a headset if they will really talk to someone on there. And if the whole xbox is white (including disk tray) then you have to get a xbox external hard drive (it has to be made for xbox, I don't think generic ones work).

The headset isn't a must have from the first day. It's only if they want to play on Xbox Live and talk to other people. I'd suggest the Quick Charge kit and a second rechargeable battery pack or a set of rechargeable AAs. The kit comes with one rechargeable pack so a second would be good for two controllers. The wireless controllers run through regular AAs.
