Xbox Live Newbie questions. (: ...?

I'm thinking of getting Xbox Live Gold, but I had a quick question.

If you have a Gold Membership for one of your profiles on your Xbox 360, do you have to pay again for a different profile to go on Xbox Live, or is it covered by already paying for one already?

In other words, Does the membership go to the system (IP Address?) or to the individual profile?

Also, could you tell me a bit about Microsoft Points?
What they're used for?

No you have to pay for each individual account and the time run outs sadly =( Microsoft Points can buy varies of things such as Movies,Music Videos,Songs, Arcade Games, Changing Gamer-tags, Buying Addons to Games usually map packs also various other items it's always good to have a couple lying around I usually spent mine on movies.

the membership only goes to one account and only tht account, not to ur ip adress or anything sorry, wish it was tht way but microsoft is cheap.... also the microsoft points are used to get extra content in games for example a game like call of duty you get more multyplayer maps, a game like fallout 3 u get extend campaign play, you can also use the points to buy some games off live and install them onto your harddrive, u can use them to get mini games tht are pretty fun, u can get movies off live and music videos too, i also heard tht espn is coming to live and there is also facebook and twitter too
