Your "biography" in marketing materials??

[just a little question...]

Do you include a bio of sorts in any of your promotional materials? When I see it done, I see it in brochures or on websites.

I am considering including a mini bio on my site (once it's up and running) and I'm wondering what I should include. What do you feel is important/appropriate info for a bodywork therapist bio? What would you NOT include?

I think if you are going to have one, it's nice to have a little personal info in there, just to put a touch of your personality into it.

I am thinking I should obviously include info on my schooling and modalities but I'm not sure what else.

For those who have done this, what is your "bio" like? Links to where I could read some would be great. Thanks!

I included a mini bio on my brochure and website. My town is small-ish and it's a very "who knows who" type of town. I am not from here so I decided it was a good way for people to get the low down on me and feel like they know me before they meet me. I have gotten comments from new clients who have seen my brochure before meeting me....things like, "so you lived in California? I have a brother stationed out there" or "did I read that you have a baby?" My town is a family oriented town and practically the first question is who are you related to, and since I am not related to anyone the next question is where did I grow up. So those are things I included in my bio.

Where I went to school for massage, where I grew up, why I am a massage therapist, what my interests are (I keep these massage/holistic stuff related, I don't say camping and walking on the beach, etc.), the relationship I aim to create with my clients, etc. I include that I got married in this town and we moved back to this town to pursue our careers and start a family....which is not all the way true, but certainly what has happened.

My website bio is more involved than my brochure for space reasons.
