Youtube videos buffering slower since they introduced the black video player?

As most of you probably know, Youtube has changed to a black video player. Since then, most videos are buffering WAY slower me. Videos on youtube are the only things that have been going slower than normal, and videos on user channel pages(which still use the old white bar for the moment) are buffering just fine, so I don't think it's a problem on my end, but I'm not sure. Anybody know why this is, and anyway I can fix the problem?
It appears to go back to normal late at night/early in the morning, around 1:00 AM or so. It went back to normal around the same time last night too, but it was back to being slow the next day.
