This is a little late, I was in there about 9 days ago...

Am I the only one around here who hates cigar smoke and cigarette smoke?
I'd much rather have a bar with none of either! Maybe it's because I'm from California and we Californicators tend to find smoke unhealthy for mongers and other living beings...

So okay, I walked in and I do like the bigger bar area, it's much nicer and that's all good. But I don't care for the higher drink prices. In fact this is going to make me come here less often, along with the cigar smoke.

The girls? There were about 12-15 when I went in, around 5pm or so. There were about 6 sitting along the wall in pairs, mostly talking with each other, mostly not flirting with me, though a few did but I was not interested.

There was one there that I was really pretty interested in and she did give me the go sign, but I was waiting to see who else may walk in and someone else snatched her (no pun intended).

Then there was a guy there having a birthday and apparently him or his friend were buying drinks for a bunch of the girls so he had about 6 of the best ones including Pamela and her flavor of the day around him. I was hesitant to bust in on his little party even though I wouldn't have minded going with one or two of them.

Finally the bunch of them left, I didn't notice if the birthday boy went with any of them but the rest of them I know just kind of left together as if it was their time to get off or take a break or something...

So at that point I just left. It just did not seem to be "my day" at the ZB. Usually things click into place for me there but this was not one of those times. And maybe it was mostly my own indecision and lack of motivation to make anything happen.

So this is my assessment:

The increased prices of drinks and girls at ZB are not warranted.
The girls are about the same selection as before. Maybe some new ones, but also some old ones, and the new ones are about the same quality as before - some good, some not so good.
The cigar smoking is a turn off to me, I can certainly do without having my clothes smell like cigars and having to breathe cigar smoke.

So for me the bottom line is this:
I will continue to check in at ZB and see what is up. It used to be my favorite place but now it has lost some of it's appeal for me.
The prices are still "okay" IF I see someone there I really like and IF she performs as well as most have in the past, there.
The bottom line is that I am not that happy about the changes at ZB. I wish it had stayed the same as it was before.

However, I will continue to check it out, at least for the short term, and if I find good talent there, that is what really counts. For now what I see is "about the same talent, but more money, and cigar smoke to contend with".

I know I'm going to get blasted by you smokers, and hey if that's what the majority want at ZB then more power to them!

I just wonder how many of you are like me and will admit that you are not enamored by cigar smoke?

I asked this before but got no reply.Whats the price of an imperial now at ZB.Last time (dec)i was there it was $3.I dont mind the price increase and will check it out and probably session but its not a must do as it once was.I,m not a smoker either but it is a cigar bar and we know that going in.

no seriously.. i have to apologize.. I think that was me sitting next to you.. while you were whining about the cigar smoke.. the problem was and im not sure if anyone can relate.. was i was smoking a rocky patel decade.. it just got a 95 rating in cigar afficionado and i could not help myself but i was enjoying this rather incredible cigar.. maybe we should get the goverment to start banning cigars here in costa rica so we can make sure not to offend people from california :shock:

ps. Mike the price of an imperial at the cigar bar is $3.00 but then again I used my new VIP card to get myself an additional 10% off my bar tab.. pura vida..

I quit going to the old ZB becaue there was never any place to sit and it just felt too small for my taste. I for one feel quite comfortable in the new bar. If I have to budget my self away from paying 3.00 for a beer in CR I will have to stop my hobby. How many bars in the US have the eye candy that HLH has? Beer prices in Calf. must be much cheaper than what I am used to paying. How can one complain about smoke in a cigar bar??? Some people seem to always look for the negitives in life. I guess it is the half full, half empty rule.

he was just stating his opinion, i used to smoke, now i don't smoke. For me, i prefer nonsmoking, but have no real problem with smoking in a cigar bar. Although alot of complaints about "smoke" in most bar, could be solved by an adequite ventilation system (exhaust fans).

IMO, the drinks at ZB are overpriced. But I don't ever think I've had an alcoholic beverage while there, so I'm not really concerned about that. I go there only to grab a quick nut, and that cost, $55, is reasonable, IMO.

The price of girls has not increased. I believe it was always $55 but there was a CRT discount which there no longer is.

I think TicoFrankie was being a little harsh to the original poster. I think the dude understands it is a cigar bar. He just doesn't like the fact that it is now a cigar bar. I also hate cigar smoke. I like going to ZB, but now if I want to go to ZB, I have to also accept the fact that it is a cigar bar, and there is a good chance my clothes will stink for the rest of the day if I go in there. ZB may attract clients because it is a cigar bar, but they may also lose clients for the same reason. People who smoke cigars and cigarettes don't mind cigar smoke and cigarette smoke. Most non-smokers don't like it. If we did, we'd probably smoke. Cigars are the worst. The smoke seems to be more powerful. That makes a cigar bar worse than a regular bar. So, give the guy a break. He just wants to monger without being irritated by strong cigar smoke. I think he understands he can't do that any longer at ZB

Karen is alive and kicking at Little Havana (ZB) Cristina is now an indy working out of DR occassionally and have also seen her at SL.

As somebody here alluded to, the problem with smoke at the ZB (or HLH) is that the ventilation is nearly non-existent. That's a serious problem that mgmt. needs to address because more and more of us don't smoke (I do smoke and try to keep it away from others but in close confines, watcha gonna do?)
Now what's this about the CRT discount at ZB going away? Did I miss the announcement?
