1AM closure... Patong or rest of Island 12 ??

Hello down there. Have not found any informations how the issue with the closing times has developed in the last days. Is there still strict enforcement? And is there anything new about that maybe 4am solution.
As trip is coming nearer I would love to get some new and hopefully good news.

Check Phuket Gazette, they wrote about it yesterday.

Something about mob if all attempts are fruitless, I think it was today they will give another petition to PM Thaksin when he visit Phuket to talk with Malaysian PM.

At the moment it seems to be around 1:30 - 2:00

Bars not allowed to open on Bangla until 1800 hours ???

What the hell is this ? Is it true ?

I have just booked my eighth trip to Thailand. (seventh to Patong in consecutive years)

I have always spent 2-3 Hours in 'The Shipwreck' Bar (just drinking and people watching) every day after several hours on the beach, before showering at the Hotel and venturing out for something to eat and visiting the many Bars on Bangla.

I will have to seriously consider cancelling this next trip to Thailand (Read Patong) in March, and going somewhere (anywhere) else, with a more realsistic attitude to the wishes of money-generating tourists.

I'm sorry, but my hard-earned holidays are not going to be spent in this type of atmosphere. I might re-book to Vietnam or the Philippines.

sounds like its getting desperate mate dont it.i may not bother going back after xmas.i have a 4 day sortie planned to phillipines next month.to cebu with a mate who goes there regular,if i can make it due work commitments.will let you know how i get on if i make it.

surely the uncertainty of the closing times must influence travelers decisions on visiting patong,,or is it a case of 2 hours binge drinkin before the bars close?
