Sure it may appear that kids of today have a more vast array of options which will potentially lead them off the straight and narrow path, but they have the option to choose which path they take. No-one is forcing them to take copious amounts of pills (although the temptation would be higher given the greater availability) or drive at 150 mph (not all would have the resources to afford a vehicle capable of such speeds anyway). I know these were just examples mentioned, but regardless of the situation, the option to choose one's path still remains.
The senior chaps, on average, have obviously seen more and done more, because they have lived longer. Some younger chaps with a "live fast" attitude may have experienced as much as some of these older guys in a shorter period. The fact of the matter is that times change, and the two periods (50's-60's and 90's-present day) are hard to compare to one another because the stimuli affecting both groups in their youth are so different. There is no right or wrong here, both Les and Livinlos have valid points, but neither can be used to "prove" their claims.
Personally I like to listen to the older guys as some of them can impart wisdom which can help me make my own decisions about certain things that I confront in my own day to day life. On the other hand, the bravado and cheek of the younger guys can be refreshingly entertaining (where's Spike when you need him?!!).
I think people from both groups (on an individual level, from one person to another) can learn from one another on different aspect of life. For one group to claim to know more than the other about any issue whatsoever seems like nonsense, as it is pure generalisation.
