I wouldnt drink wine with an indian simply as it doesnt go so well with the spices..

I would however get stuck into a nice red when doing a BBQ simply as it goes well with the food and is nice on an outdoor afternoon..

I certainly dont think about what people might perceive as weird.. I like a nice glass of good wine, dont care what others think of that.

Sorry but your wrong you have to have an gwerz or riesling that might match up well, not a new world wine though. Spice and bit of sweetness will match up, old world wines of those types work well and are not cheap.
